Benefits of Camping with Claw Machine Camp
Two public events:
Being part of a large scale interactive art piece that offers other Burners a unique experience
A baseball game if you want to heckle people during the day
A public/camp bar - Offer up fun and chat up new friends at the bar
We have 8 or so spinning dinner seats for the full bar effect
300 beers will be included for the public and if you need a cold one
Two 5 gallon beverage dispensers where we will mix drinks
Shaded community space – 60’ x 20’ shade structure (previously 40’ x 20’):
Public Shade structure is 20’ x 20’: This houses the bar and our public offering
Camp space 20’ x 20’ will be expanded to 40’ x 20’: this will be attached to the public shade so that we can ensure we catch guests, but be separated by an opaque tarp
Our community space will include:
Couches, camp chairs, a lounger
A two burner propane freestanding stove
Rugs
Additional space that can be decorated for further comfort
Ice wagon & ice for the bar provided daily - we’ll provide extra ice among the camp as possible
Trampoline to lay on and look at the stars at night, Claw machine to climb atop of to check out the view
Location: 3:00 and J - On a straight road out to the playa, close to the toilets, far from the noise and smells - feel calm at night when you rest
Trash cans - camp trash cans for recycling and non-food trash
Space on the truck for your bike and a couple items as long as you are present to load and unload those items and camp gear on the day of loading/unloading

2017 Camp Bandana
We believe in contribution. Member dues are a contribution to the interactivity and gifts the camp brings to the playa. The games, the bar, chill space, fuel, disposal of remaining trash…everything that we provide to make the playa home to everyone.
What Camp Membership Does Not Provide
A ticket to Burning Man
Transportation to and from the Burn
Shelter or bedding
Food, refrigeration, or eating utensils
A private portapotty
Projects in the work!
Lights with generator! We need some more lights at night!
Further decorating our camp space - trying to make the space even more like home - feel free to contribute in any way
Camp Map - general camping assignments in our space organized by arrival and departure dates for convenience
Improvements to the claw - an axle will be added to improve movement and cranking - pieces are being replaced
Tea offerings for visitors!
Games at the bar!
A website - oo! No more weird docs - someday!
Exceptional Exceptions
Most people contribute via workdays and contributing to camp needs, if you’re living afar - states or countries away and can’t participate via workdays think about what you can contribute on playa and let us know what those contributions are.
Are you able to provide anything from our inventory needs list or offer something more? I know many of us are scavengers and know where to get some good free stuff!
Do you have comforts you can bring to the playa for the camp, decorations, additional lighting, a cool structure, a fun game, other improvements to the camp?
“If your life is too important to attend work days…” (I stole that from another site, they called it Pretty Princess Dues) though you’re in the area let us know and petition to participate by paying additional pre-playa dues. Your duties on playa will be the same as every other member.
We meet so many claw enthusiasts and people who have fond memories of playing this game in their childhood. It’s a blast to see people relive those moments and play the game as a team. You’ll meet new friends and people who can’t resist spending a token on the game. This will be an experience you will not forget.

Not only do you ride in this claw machine, it's 100% human powered. You and your friends will work together to pick prizes off our trampoline. We brought this 16’x16’x12’ monstrosity to the playa in 2015 and it's back for another round!
This year, all of the replacement pieces are being painted gold in the Japanese spirit of repairing pottery with gold in order to retain its history and spirit: Kintsugi.
Follow us on our journey from backyard to playa!
Barry and I conceived of this idea while driving back after his first burn. If resources were not an issue what camp would we make? Many ideas came through but the claw was the one that stuck. We couldn't pass up this idea and agreed to begin our vision. Barry began designing the claw in January of 2015 and the rest is history.

The Claw weighs in at over 5,000 pounds of Douglas fir. Each piece has been cut, drilled, sanded, primed, painted, and then sealed in a layer of glitter mixed polyurethane. The polyurethane keeps the glitter in and the elements out. Each piece is coated in glitter matching the paint - gold, magenta, and blue. In total there is about 1 lb of glitter on the claw machine. Eye protection may be required at sunrise and sunset.

Each game will require a team of 3 people, and three tokens. The goal is to grab one of our many prizes upon the trampoline.
We will be IDing, and providing beer for consumption and token making. If a player does not drink alcohol they can have a teammate drink it and/or pick up 10 pieces of moop (matter out of place aka litter) and bring it to us for disposal.
The rider will climb a ladder at one of the corners, and to get into the claw at a raised position. This will be the starting and stopping point. The rider in the claw will then direct their teammates to the prize of their choosing. Once the prize of their choice is selected they will go back to the starting position with their prize and unravel the mystery with their teammates!
When The Claw is not in operation, the trampoline will be open for bouncing on!
